• Isn't it amazing that 22 million human beings are cramped into one tiny island the size of one sixtieth of India lined by the blue-green great salt waters perfectly geographed with royal mountains in the centre splashed with a bejewelled ethnic melange, heavy hearted with centuries of victory, loss, acute pain, and incomparable joy, and call that innocent beaten yet proudly prevailing land home?
  I'm proud to be Sri Lankan. My mind may wander into other lands but my roots are embedded here.
  Happy 70th year of Independence, my beautiful, patient, persevering, Motherland! Your people still love you. Oba wé apa shakthi!
